The complementary team consists of project partners who all have direct responsibility in the definition of policies and guidelines in their respective regions.
In Flanders and the Netherlands experiences have been gathered with funding programmes for pollution resulting from dry cleaners. ADEME in France is in charge of management remediation of ‘orphan’ sites (with insolvent companies) contaminated by chlorinated solvents whereas the city of Stuttgart and the Netherlands have applied pilot projects on clustered approaches to tackle the problem at a larger scale.
The cities of Stuttgart and Utrecht are responsible for remediation of groundwater pollution on their own sites. They are also acting as competent authority for soil and groundwater protection at local level. The cities of Gent and Mortsel in Flanders have an advisory role in the remediation process and are as local authorities the first to be contacted by worried citizens.
